Week 28

We enter Week 28 making adjustments to our routine as a result of our meeting with Mary and Brigid.

First, her walk without braces was AWFUL! Mary attributed it to a recent change on her hip out and back exercises. She apparently adjusted two weeks earlier when I noticed she had started to lose her balance on those. So now she has to stand and kick her leg out to the side instead of throwing her hip back.

Second, her regular walk was fantastic (meaning with the braces.) Everything else was good - tho I saw a change in range that was still okay but scary. Mary said its fine. Her foot range (moving it sideways and pulling it up) has increased tremendously and Mary is very happy with that.

Luckily we do our exercises as prescribed everyday so its not on the working end. We go back on April 5 to see if this has helped.

Changes besides the leg kicking exercise are to walk half the practice walk barefoot with VERY small steps. That has been going along nicely.

Week 27

Today we are in week 27. We have an appt at Childrens for a check. I hope all turns out well. We have been doing our exercises religiously. I'll update once I get back.

I dont update regularly anymore as we are just doing the same old, same old. We walk everyday for one hour. We were doing that in 20 min sessions but recently changed to 30 min in the morning, 20 in the afternoon after school, and 10 after dinner. Then we do the regular set of exercises - 1. right leg up, swing to the left, 2. left leg up, swing to the right, 3. "hip check" back and slightly to the left, 4. right leg up, lift right leg up and down, 5. up and down on tiptoes, right leg, 6. up and down on tiptoes, left leg, 7. sit on couch with legs hanging down, left leg held still but left foot moves to center and back, and 8. sit on couch with legs hanging down, left leg held still but lift left foot towards ceiling keeping focus on the muscle on the inside side of the foot.

The change in sessions has been nice. If we dont get 30 in the morning, we do what we can and make up so we have 50 done when we are done in the afternoon.
