Helpful Hints - Cast Shoes

1. Puffy paint, iron-ons (make sure not to melt the cast shoe!), and jewels make the cast shoes much more presentable and more palatable to a kid.

2. Make sure to label each pad put in the shoe with the side it goes in (left, right).

3. THIS IS A BIG ONE!!!! Not all pants can fit over the casts. And those pants that fit dont always fit over the casts EVERY week because the cast shape can change. Especially on the affected side. Your BEST bet is to buy stretch pants and sweat pants. For girls (I'm not sure about the availability for boys), I found The Childrens Place to have an especially nice selection of stretch clothes for girls of all ages. I bought some cords and jeans for G there as well but its an iffy thing as to whether or not they will slip over the cast on her left side. Example is today - a pair that fit last week simply could not be drawn over that cast.

4. A BIG PLUS in my house -> never forget to look at the bright side! I never have to find matching sox for G. Which in my house is a search akin to looking for the Holy Grail! LOL.

(I'll be updating this list as we progress.)
