Serial Casting Starts to Intrude

Well, it intruded earlier than today because 1. we have an appt on Sept 9 to take some baseline measurements of Gracie at LaRabida (to measure how it changes her arm), 2. I had to talk to G's teacher and gym teacher and 3. I found out last nite that soccer is a "no-go" because the games start so that she only gets one week of it before being casted.

Today Children's called me to ask me to call my insurance and find out if we need precertification. If not, they want the name of the person who says no. If no, I dont know what we do. Anyway, apparently when insurance companies find out the cost they try to back out claiming we needed permission or pre-cert. Did that -its gone to a nurse now. Also we need to get a script from her rehab doc at RIC requesting the bilateral serial casting program, bilateral AFOs - night and day, and bilateral shoe inserts. Didnt know about the shoe inserts.

Anyway, so now its starting to become more of a reality. G is already getting upset telling me people will laugh at her. Why she would think that since we have seen tons of kids with casts in the school is just a sign of how self conscious she feels about it. I'm just going to hold my breath and tough it out with her. We'll do okay once we get started.

She has been really enjoying not wearing a brace. Or doing any more exercises for now. I figure let her relax until the storm hits. She is a good and solid worker on therapy so it is nice for her to have this big break.
